I’ve known I was bipolar since age 17. Saw my first doctor at 21. I’m now 27, still not in control of my illness. In that time I have read more about bipolar than anyone should ever have to. Yet, all doctors treat me like a child and speak with a condescending tone. As if 10 years wasn’t enough time for me to have learned a thing or two. I think many people, myself included, deserve more respect when it comes to doctors. After all, we are people with brains and feelings.
